Im seriously thinking about getting a fastback carry , are there any reliablity issues with their external extractors? i remember the clusterfuck that kimber went thru. I have a bunch of other 1911' s , all have internals . just trying to do s9me research before i take the plunge!

just get a real 1911, you'll be better off.  sig and kimber are the herpes of the 1911 world.

no issues with the SIG type external extractor...nothing like Kimber's...I've had my SIGARMS GSR Revolution STX since around 2006 and it has run just fine...

I've had no issues either. My C3 is boringly reliable.

You might also want to consider the S&W 1911SC. It too has a round butt and is competatively prices with the Sig.

The only problems I've had with an external extractor was with a 3" Pro series S&W. But then 3" guns aren't exactly known for their reliability.

Sig extractor is fine. Kimbers was not.

The Sig external extractor works really well.

My son just got a Sig 1911 Traditional.

Extraction and ejection is very, very good.

Launches empty cases a few feet farther out than
the other 1911s we have.

Now I want a Sig 1911 for myself !!!

Both SIG and S&W have their external extractor designs extremely well perfected; they are both absolutely GTG unlike the external extractor Kimbers which were abject failures.

I've had multiple SIG 1911s and had no extraction issues at all.

Good to go.

If I made a comment like that in a tech forum I would have gotten nailed by a mod.

Anyway, the Sig 1911 is fine. I have a Tac Ops with the Sig profile slide, and aside from problems due to crappy magazines I've had no problems. I do wish that I had gotten one with the traditional slide profile, but I don't regret getting the Tac Ops.
