| I've been looking really hard at buying a Kimber Compact CDP II. I like the way it's spec'd out with the 4" barrel and short grip. I'd like to buy a Springfield. I have an EMP and it seems to be a better quality pistol than the Kimbers I've handled. So my question is, which Springfield comes closest to the Kimber Compact? |

That's the only one in their lineup I could find also. I'll have to keep my eye out for the transitional model your talking about. I'd get the kimber if it had springfields lifetime warranty. Kimber only offers a 1 year warranty. I haven't had any real issues with my Kimbers though. With that said, get a Springfield first! |

Springfield good gun, Kimber shit. Kimber ain't shit, necessarily, but they have had QC issues over the years. I've got a 7 year old PC II that's just fine. Combine their QC issues with a 1 year warranty and questionable customer service and they are not helping themselves. |

To answer your question OP; Springfield doesn't make a CCO type pistol. They had a brief transitional period where they had their 4" barrel on their subcompact frame Maybe if you found a used one, but it's no longer in their lineup It was called the "Compact Lightweight". I don't know when they stopped selling it, but it was in the catalog circa 2003. In my experience, having owned a few of both and worked on a lot more, any given Kimber tends to be fit a little more tightly and consistently than any given Springfield. They are not without their problems, however, and Springfield is usually better about fixing their issues when asked to. |

It can be very frustrating to get any short 1911 pistol to run consistently.
Springfield full sized pistols are among the best available. As you use them, they just get better and better. They have a lifetime warranty. The Springfield Company has the best customer service of any arms manufacturer. Outstanding! |
