Back in January a S&W 1911 Pro Series Sub Compact caught my eye. Well my birthday is finally rolling around so I bought one and some spare mags for it from the LGS. The three spare mags are Kimber 7 round stainless steel KimPro TacMags.

This thing is so sweet. I bought it Saturday and took it to the range Sunday for a quick function test. I shot 35 rounds 230grain FMJ WWB and 35 rounds of 230 grain Hydra-Shok HP's. Not one issue with either ammo or mags. I was a little nervous after reading on this site and others about the small 1911 style pistols having issues but this one was flawless.

It has a 3" stainless steel barrel and a Scandium frame, black melonite finish, Novak 3 dot sights and came with two 7 round mags w/ finger rest.

I just can't get over how light it is even when loaded. I had been considering a single stack 9 or even a 380 for a lightweight CC but this pistol has changed my mind.

I am planning a range trip this coming weekend and will take pics and do a real range report then. I am just so pleased with it though, that I just had to share.

Here is a link if anyone wants to see it before I get around to posting pics. It looks just like the one at the link.

Very cool.  I'm glad that you're getting reliability out of it.  I was given a colt mustang pocketlite as a gift and I'm going to start carrying it soon.  After that I'm probably going to be looking at 1911 styled handguns and stepping it up a little bit either with a 3.25'' or 4'' 1911 shooting .45 for a little extra insurance over the 380.

Let us know how it does after a few more rounds.  Any discomfort in shooting it?  I hear the smaller ones have some serious bark to them.

I felt no discomfort whatsoever from it. The muzzle flash seemed a little more pronounced to me, but it could be that I was just paying more attention to it.

Nice - a very happy birthday to you as well.  I've got one coming up in July.  Not sure if I should go for a carry 1911 or a mini4 suppressor.  Two very different things I know, but around the same price range.

I think this can have a fair amount to do with the strength of the recoil spring installed. I recently acquired a Dan wesson cco and the recoil is minimal with a 20lb commander length spring. Even with full house loads, I find it as easy to keep on target as my fnp45
