My MIL got a T3 a while back, shot it once then it sat in the safe for awhile. We went shooting last week so I got to take my hand to it finally. When I was about to shoot it for the first time the trigger felt like the safety was engage(it was in the off position), I inspected it and nothing seemed wrong, regripped it and fired a few rounds then it happened again. That's when I found the problem, the thumb safety has a bit of play in it in the off position and my thumb took up the slack(just a few degrees of rotation) which was enough to engage the safety even though it had not clicked into the on position.

I have a lot of years shooting and owning 1911s but have never had an issue before so I have zero experience fiddling with them or even needing to problem solve them. Is their an easy fix for this? Can they just take it to a local gunsmith or should it go back to Nighthawk?

Other than that, it is an incredibly smooth shooting gun.

Thanks in advance.

It's a simple fix but I would make Nighthawk aware of it.

I'd give Nighthawk a call.

Is the safety actually moving down far enough that the detent plunger rests in the dimple on the safety?    Some grips can stop the safety from going all the way down into detent position.
