I'm torn between a few 1911's. I'd like to get a good one under $1000. I'd like to hear some input about the ones I have listed. I also listed my local prices to help make choice..

Kimber custom II walnut grip. (really liking, but I keep reading a bunch of hear say on QC) ~$750
Ruger SR1911  (hard to find, Gandermountain had one at 799! also had a small chip in the finish so I pasedt.) ~$799
Remington R1   (cheap) ~$650
Springfield RO (I like, but not real crazy for the big rear adjustable sight) ~$750
Springfield Park Loaded, ( love to have one but can't find one local) ~$?

I have a Kimber Warrior and and SA Loaded. Love them both. The ones on your list that intrigue me are the SR1911 and the Range Officer.

I have a springfield loaded stainless that i picked up for $789 new in box. It came with two mags, mag holder and a holster. For the money i think the springfields are top notch.
just my two cents.
Am looking to pick up a ultra kimber or the sig sauer c3 here real soon. They are price around $1000

I'm a big fan of the Range Officer.  I'm still not sure whether I like the sights or not but I didn't allow them to influence my decision since they're replaceable with minimum effort/cost.

I know you said under 1000..But, I have got to tell you... My buddy has a Kimber and an Ed Brown. I shot them both last Friday night, along with my SIG P220. I am now saving up for an Ed Brown.
I can't tell you how awesome that thing shoots. It's a damn tack driver at 20 yards!! Just sayin....

I've got an Ed Brown Classic Custom stainless, a Wilson Combat Professional stainless, and had a Kimber CDP. The Brown and Wilson are incredible, the Kimber fed like crap and I tried numerous brands. I'd go Springfield or save for a higher end gun but that's just me. Some Baer models can be had for 1,500 or so as well.

I believe a <$500 ATI offers superior value in a 1911. I won't buy an "N" serial number Springfield again. Kimber is overpriced for what you get. The Ruger or Range Officer are better 1911s at the $800 price point.

Colt should be on your list and do not over look used. Every 1911 I have owned ( over a dozen) has been a colt except for two les baers. And every one was under 700 bucks. My old 1991 was bought used for 600 bucks and ran like a clock. May not have bells and whistles ( BEaver tail fancy trigger ambi safe) but that stuff is fluff anyway for the most part.

I wouldn't pay $799 for the SR1911.   If you can't get it for under $700, wait a while.    I would feel OK with the Kimber or either Springfield at those prices.   I wouldn't recommend the Remington, the quality on them is all over the map.

Springfield, or Colt. Look around carefully, and you should be able to find a Loaded.

I agree with Birddog1911, look around for a stainless Loaded.
I wouldn't trade mine for anything. It's a nearly constant companion.
Last time it was on the range, it didn't have the only perfect score on the line, but it was the only one without an X-ring.

I have a Springfield loaded in stainless steel. It is the best shooting handgun I own, I absolutely love it.

If COLT is not an option, then definitely the Springfield Loaded. I had one in stainless and it was/is an excellent pistol. I gifted it to my brother or it would still be in my EDC line up.

Here is a pic:

I have the park'd Springfield Loaded as my car gun. Great pistol for the money (and sounds like it is your preference). Can't find local, there are several on Gun Broker right now (they have a place on the site that helps you find a dealer to work the transfer for you, very easy to do).

I also have the 3 inch Loaded (which is how I know how great Springfield is at standing behind their product ) and a Kimber Desert Warrior. All worthy, but of course none can compare to my Wilson Combat CQB. Work your way up to a high end 1911 if you can, you won't regret it!
