I want a all SS commander size 1911 with a rail and a bobbed frame/MSH.
I know springfield has their railed champions but I believe they all have alloy frames and would need to have the frame bobbed by them or another smith.
The S&W E series in nice but is also alloy and with no rail.

is my best option to get the Springfield railed champion and jave it bobbed and just drop the as SS requirement ?

the reason for the all SS is mainly just personal preference. I have no real reason not to want an alloy frame...just prefer a steel framed 1911

EDIT~ The more I think about it the more Im leaning toward a Springfield loaded champion and having springfield bob the frame and forgetting the rail.
I can always get a detachable rail if need be and I have other pistols for HD duty with rails.
anyone have a Springfield loaded champion ? how do you like it ?

Wilson Combat can probably build you one, I just wouldn't expect it to be cheap.

SA doesn't make steel-framed rail gun? Why not an lw? SA's lifetime warranty will take care of you and I'm sure the CS could handle the bobtail job!

I have a loaded lightweight (alloy frame) champion that I bobtailed myself.  I love it, and I wanted the alloy frame to bob for carry.  I bought it used, and at first it would choke on hollow points.  No worries, Springfield took care of it and it's been great ever since.  Other than the bobtail, I swapped the ambi safety for a single sided extended, and put in a short, smooth trigger.  These were mostly for personal preference, not because of any issues with the standard equipment.  For a carry gun, it's great.  With 8 + 1 rounds of 230 gr HP, it feels ligher than my all steel Colt Commander empty (I've never actually weighed them, just going by feel).
