Who installs thumb shields/guards on 1911s? Any come that way standard?
Does anyone sell grips that have thumb shield extensions? (I found a company online, but they don't list a price...) Thanks! |

Thanks for the suggestions so far.
I'm really looking for a solution that lets me have a shield/guard on both sides. I've tried calling and emailing DLSports, but have never gotten through. http://www.dlsports.com/aluminum-1911-pistol-grips-with-integral-thumbguards.html |

AASG –– interesting. Thanks for the link. I might try those.
I'd like to give kudos to EGW and Innovative Custom Guns. I found a link to EGW's thumb shields for $30 each –– left and right http://www.egwguns.com/miscellaneous-parts/thumb-guard-for-1911/ I emailed them and a few hours later, Jim at EGW suggested I talk to Jim at ICG, which is the gunsmith they recommend. So, I emailed the other Jim. http://www.innovativecustomguns.com/ Jim at Innovative Custom Guns said it is $85 to install –– I assume that is for shields on both sides, which is what I inquired about. If I have this done, I'll post a review of the process and product. |

Maybe a target gun would be fine, but under stress might make it a little harder. Just a thought. |

Serrations on the front of the slide. Or you grab the slide behind and above the guard. Can't be much worse than a CZ-75 and this is for more of a target gun, where my hands riding the slide keep it from cycling properly. That is part of what I'm trying to decide about. |
