I picked this up a little while ago.  It's used, but doesn't look to have been shot much at all.  I know there's not a lot of love for theses, but at $425 out the door, I think I got a pretty good deal.

First few times I shot it, no failures at all, however the slide wouldn't always lock back on empty.  I replaced the mag springs and followers with Wilson Combat and haven't had a problem since.

I've been carrying this over my beloved airweight lately.  Not as light and comfortable, but the 2 extra rounds and .45 over .38 is hard to pass up.

So, what say ye.....

Interesting front strap treatment.
Do you have any comment on how it compares to checkering?

It looks great.  I wasn't familiar with the Slim Hawg so I looked it up.  This guy liked it alright.

Yea couldn't really pass it up.  It's got light handling marks, but looks like very low round count.  I could care less about cosmetics since it's a carry gun and not a showpiece, but still looks pretty good anyway.

I find checkering plenty sufficient for me, but this grip feels really nice and you can get a good hold on the gun.  I haven't shot a lot yet, but it feels pretty good so far.

Good read, thanks.

I've heard a lot of negative reviews, and Para doesn't seem to be a favorite around here, but I've owned two so far (had a P13 but sold it) and never had any reliability issues to date.  It seems the biggest issues are the magazines, but a quick change of spring and follower usually does the trick.

That is one hell of a deal on a sweet pistol. I wouldn't believe the negative reviews.
The one I had, I had for years and it now belongs to my brother.
Thousands of rounds later, it is still running fine. It does have a preference for Para mags, which are expensive.

Good to hear.  I bought a couple extra mags at midway for $25 each.  Not crazy, but not cheap.

Yes, good deal. I would have been all over that deal.
