| Looking for a 9mm 1911 and found the EMP. Looking to use it as a EDC weapon. How is the reliability. Are there other models I should look at? I saw the Kimber Aegis but it's about 200$ more than the EMP. |

Mine seems good to go. So far I have only shot 124 gold dots, which it handled fine, and 115 Ranier RN plated reloads. The Raniers I loaded up with the minimum charge of Titegroup for practice (4.0 gns I think, I'd have to go out to my cave and check the logbook). I went out one day last winter when it was quite cold, about 10 degrees I believe, the ammo was cold, the gun was cold and still new, and it short-stroked a few times. It hasn't done it since with a little break-in and warmer weather. That is a very light load and bullet. I just love the gun, solid, yet compact, and beautiful. |

Search, as it has been discussed a lot. Biggest thread is Sticky at top of Springfield Forum.
Well made, accurate gun. Onlly complaints I've seen online, and in my experience, is some people have reliablility problems with hollowpoints. Many report they run 100% right out of the box. I had to send mine back to Springfield 3 times but it now seems to be reliable. Very nice pistol, and if you have any issues Springfield's customer service is absolutely top notch. |
| I purchased a 9 EMP back in March '12, and fired it right out of the box. FTF and a couple of stove pipes. Took it apart, and it was bone dry...not any lube anywhere to be found. Lubed, assembled, and shot 500 rounds of Winchester white box, 2 25 round boxes of Critical Defense. Not a single problem since the lube job. I trust mine. |
