Hey guys I'm new to the 1911 side of pistols. i have a black rifle. My dad used to have an old Colt Commander but then he went to officer canidate school and left all the guns with his brother (not a very bright guy) and he sold them all.  and I have been thinking about a 1911 for him, i need some suggestions on good 1911's for the money and  good quality.

If he plans on using it for a range toy and not planning on shooting a bunch of rounds through it, I recommend a Springfield GI.

If not, look at the SIG, SW, SA Loaded, Kimber Custom II, Col, etc...

I have really been looking at a Sig Sauer. just as something to plink with. thinking about a 22. but im not willing to spend 1,000 thats half my months pay.
