Anyone have a sig Tac Ops 1911?
Is it a fairly good 1911 with good parts?
Would
This pistol compete with a SA TRP?

I have one and love it.

Awesome gun, totally reliable and very, very accurate. I bought mine for 909 out the door, it's the TB model. I was looking at a TRP next to it and went Sig due to less MIM parts. Feature for feature, the guns compete against one another. The biggest difference is series 70 vs Series 80. BoTh are great guns!

Does this gun have MIM parts? If so, what are they?

Thanks!

about to make the same decision now as well - TacOps vs TRP. There is a TRP that a friend has for a decent price that may be hard to turn down but the adjustable sights and guide rod are negatives for me.

It shoots nicely though...

Some sources, including Bruce Gray (probably the best known Sig smith out there) says no MIM parts in Sig 1911s.  Others say the thumb safety, grip safety and disconnector are MIM.  Since MIM is not a big deal these days, I am only slightly concerned about stressed parts.  My Sig has an EGW sear and non-MIM slide-stop and hammer so I am confident than no stressed parts are MIM.  And despite rumor, the extractor is not MIM.  I've never seen any Sig 1911 with a MIM extractor.

Sig is pretty much regarded as making a 1911 with the least amount of MIM parts, if any at all.  Colt, Kimber, S&W and especially Springfield Armory use MIM parts.

I faced the same decision last year and went with the Tac Ops with zero regrets.  I have put a couple thousand rounds through it with no hicups.

If any modern pistol, 1911 included, cost less than $2000 it has MIM parts in it. I'd skip the Sig due to the shitty customer service.

I think the TRPs have a better barrel fit, which is the heart and soul of a 1911.   Over $1000, you're better off with a TRP, IMHO.   If you can get the SIG for $900 or lower, it's hard to beat in that price range.

Worrying about the MIM parts in either one is not a productive use of one's time.

I have the Sig TACOPS 1911 with TB and it runs perfect. Out of the box one of the best shooting pistols I own. I too was looking at a TRP and then I saw the Sig at my local dealer, fingered it, and then bought it right there on the spot. http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg571/thebowzer1/photo.jpg http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg571/thebowzer1/photo-1.jpg
