I have really been happy with my Ed Brown SF Carry.

I thought that was a good enough excuse to buy a full size one, too.

Added a Maxi-well and VZ grips...

It was in stock at the dealer. It had a flush cut barrel. I probably wouldn't have ordered it that way, but I didn't want to wait another five months, either.

Congrats- Ed builds a reeeally nice 1911.

How did you get a coated magwell funnel? I was thinking about ordering one from EB for my SF and they said it would be a special order. Not that I have a problem with that, but that was what I was told.

It is a special order... kind of. They just take a chain-link funnel from stock and send it out for the GENIII coating. The woman on the phone said they send stuff out once or twice a week for coating. It took about a week to get it in my grubby little mitts.... I ordered it before I bought the pistol. You know, because it would just be stupid to have the mag funnel lying around and not buy the gun.

It sure seems like they would make the chain-link magwell with gen3 coat a stock item. The Special Forces come with GEN3 or in stainless. Seems like it would make sense to stock the matching funnel in the same finishes.

I think coating was $25 extra.

There is a gap between the frame and the funnel. Probably .008-.012 or so. I haven't put a feeler gauge in it or anything. Kind of bugs me, but I plan on this gun being a shooter. So, I am just making myself let go of the little things and shoot the damn thing.

I've had the gun for almost two weeks now, and still haven't shot it, btw. Work and marriage have gotten in the way recently. I wish I was single and independantly wealthy....

Totally agree ... I was surprised when they didn't offer it in their catalog!
