I just purchased a STI Spartan V in 9mm. It has a 9 lb. recoil spring. I took it out to shoot last week. I shot 100 round and every once in awhile (about 8 times) the gun would not completely eject the spent case. Is this due to the extractor or the light recoil spring?

I use a 12lb on factory ammo.

does the extractor pass the test?
eta Factory rating for super .38 & 9mm is 14 Lbs

Not sure what you mean by passing the test? I Think im going to put a 12 lb in and see if that fixes it.

remove slide place a loadded 9mm round on breachface where it would sit as if it was loadded into the chamber, the round should stay in postion with some slight shaking. If the round drops extractor tension is soft.

If the extractor can't hold onto the case long enough for the ejector to kick it out, replacing the recoil spring won't do you much good.   (Probably a good idea anyway, though... 9 pounds is a little lighter than I care for in 9mm).
