[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Did Springfield drop the GI model?

Was just perusing the Springfield Armory 1911 page and couldn't find the GI model. Were they discontinued, or am I missing it somewhere?

I believe they stopped in NOV 2011. I got one yesterday used.

Sweet gun for what it is. Sights aint that bad.

From something I read awhile ago they just "suspended" production

It is/was their most popular model I'm sure it will be back

I hope so, I want a parkerized one to match my stainless.
