I've been on a RIA forum for awhile and there seems to be a very strong following, every bit as loyal as those in the Colt, SA camp.  I want to build a bona fide 4" carry gun. Let me hear your preference
but reasons why other than " luv my RIA or Champion."  I would have no problem going with a RIA as eveyone that owns one it seems love theirs because they are supposed to be reliable and very accurate, on the scale with a FS but then one may arrive with barrel thats not concentric to the frame or slide.  Kinda like buyer has to do their own QC.  1911 shooters don't suffer bad equipment for long but if RIA weren't accurate, reliable they couldn't overcome the other deficits.

I should do a poll.

You can't really go wrong either way. In the end it comes down to personal preference.

Get both.

SA should be a forged fram IIRC so I'd go that way, given the choice, though a good investment cast frame should be plenty strong.

two weeks ago i would have said SA all the way but last weekend my neighbor told me about his new RIA in 9mm. two boxes w/o issue.
it would come down to cash to spend but i've been hearing good hings about RIA taking care of their customers. reselling would be better for an SA but if you don't plan on  letting it go then you should be fine w/RIA.

Yeah, the savings in cost on a RIA would go back into it; small, Wilson Bullet Proof beavertail, 10-8 or Novac sights with gold bead front, Caspian thumb safety.  Problem with SA is the .220 grip safety radius as Wilson's Bullet Proof beavertail only comes in .250.

I handled a number of RIA's this year at dealers at gunshows. I was very impressed by what they offered for the money. I finally jumped when my favorite CZ dealer had a RIA Tactical for just $450 at the Va. Beach GS in Jan. I felt the build quality and fit & finish was very good. Trigger felt very good to me. A bit of smooth take up and then breaks at a crisp 4#. Nice crisp feel to the safety lever too. No slop in the rail firment or barrel bushing. Just well done in many ways IMO.

At that price I could afford it as well as afford to do a bit of work to it to personalize it.

I feel it's every good a 1911 as my SA 1911 Mil Spec is.

Yeah I know.  So is the Wilson BTGS.  The SA is .220 which may be the deal breaker as far as a SA 4".

I've been studying RIA so long now I just wanted to go back in the general population and see if I've been brainwashed or if they really go head to head with the Champion.  The railed Tactical is even growing on me.
