Okay, I had an FTE with my relatively new 1911.  It looked like this, but with the case pulled further back and the back end positioned higher than the front of the case:

Type III Failure

I think this was my fault,  because I used a brand new Tripp magazine that had never been compressed before.  My guess is that the pressure from the new mag spring caused the stoppage.  My question is, do you think I need a new extractor?   Opinions please!

Thanks!

I always go back to what last worked.

As to extractor ? I'd run factory mag first. See if problem persist. Then LIGHTLY tension extractor.
