| I've never found that all black target sights like that were hard to get a good sight picture. For me, it usually seems to be when it gets all cluttered up with dots or white outlines. I think the sights online will say if they will fit Springfields, but since I haven't changed any 1911 sights yet, you probably want a second opinion. |

This thread is relavant to me too.
Haven't tried em but been hearing great things about these: http://www.dawsonprecision.com/CategoryProductList.jsp?cat=SIGHTS+FRONT%3ASpringfield+Armory+1911+Front+Sights:Springfield+Armory+1911+Fiber+Optic+Inserted+Front+Sights |

I just can't pick up the front sight as quick as I can with marked sights. Especially on dark targets. Quoted:

I really like the fiber optic ones too. It should be easy enough to find out which one fits the front. The rear is where I was having trouble. If you look at the photo I posted, the rear sight thats on there now is a weird shape. I'm sure there is a name for it, but I don't know what it is. Thanks for the link!! |

U could paint the sights if u wanted. Paint the front sight and leave the back black or paint both. Cheap alt to buying sights and sending the gun to a smith. This is exactly what I did with my Gold Cup. It also has all black sights similar to the OP's Springfield, All I did was use some testers orange model paint and painted the front sight and left the rear alone. Works great and did not cost me a penny

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think I may just try painting the front sight first. I think anthing that visually sets the front sight apart from the rear would be an improvement, especially when shooting at dark targets.
Anybody ever try to drill their own dots? |
