I am about to buy a Springfield TRP. Brand New zero rounds. I little background on this. I have owned a few handguns and never realy likes them just did not fit right in my hand. Owned a Glock 17 and an M&P 9mm and they just did not feel right. Shot my friends Springfield TRP the other day and it just felt right. Like the recoil and the way that it just overall felt. I guess my question is this. Since this is my first 1911 am I starting to far in the upper end or should I look at something else?
Thanks! |
| I own a trp, its a great pistol, but do your self a favor and go hold a Sig 1911 XO... Buy an XO then send it in for trigi night sights and put the grips you want on it.... I have one with the nitron coating, trig sights and I put some g10 grips on it, I have to say its a better gun than my trp for $500 less.... I own a bunch of 1911's wilson combats to RIA, I even have a titanium christensen, and I love that XO... The Sigs are my new favorites, I just bought a sig target model in stainless yesterday, it outshoots my Kimber target all day... |

You can never start too far in the upper end. Buy once cry once. Stay with Springfield they have outstanding customer service and best of all, they're American. Yeah some of the frame are forged in the Philippines, but they are hand fitted by an American. ![]() +1 to the red part, but Springfield has forgings from Brazil, not the Philippines. Usually when someone says they are buying their 1st 1911 it is in the 400-600 range at the beginning, but then with all the 'upgrades' it turns into a 900-1000 project pistol. Just stick with a higher end gun and you will be happy. Buy once, cry once. |
