| Does anyone know what the Colt 1991A1 Compac retailed and wholesaled for when it came out in 1993? |

Around $500, but it really doesn't matter much today colts bring good resale and have risen in price .
Last year , I paid $600 for a 5" 1991A1 that was literally new on box ...and I think I did ok based on the condition- I have seen them for less - but they had some gunsmithing work done to them and showed signs of wear - mine has "1991-A1" in large print letters on one side of slide ( this is a discontinued roll mark that they did not use for all that many years ) - does the one your asking about have that type also ? Some people did not like it that much at the time and colt switched back to a rode common and more popular roll mark within a few years Would like a little twin to it someday.... |

Yes, mine has the large print "COLT M1991A1TM" on the left side and "COMPACT MODEL" in much smaller print on the right. I bought it in early 1993 and iirc, for less than $400 from a friend with a FFL.
I think he only charged me $15 over his cost. I was just curious as to what MSRP and wholesale was at that time, because I can't remember exactly what I paid. I am considering sending to Clark Custom for Meltdown Dehorn with big bushing and reverse plug, Tritium Novak sights, replace the plastic trigger and grip safety, magwell, and trigger job. It shoots extremely good but needs better sights. I have no intention of selling it. |
