A buddy of mine recently purchased a Frankensein 1911 for a good price, but it is having an issue.  When you release the slide, the hammer will sometimes follow. I'm sure it is just a bad part or two, but I'm no expert, so I figured someone here could diagnose this problem.
Thanks in advance!

I think you need a gunsmith to look at it. Just too many variables on a 1911.

I am not expert but I have been trained to repair 1911s by the Army as a Small Arms Repairer.

Provided no one has polished or stoned any parts (hammer, sear or disconnector) try bending the center leaf spring leg forward towards the muzzle. If you feel as though the trigger is not resetting as it should you can bend the left leg on the leaf spring forward too. You will have to take the leaf spring completely out of the pistol to do this. Reassemble the pistol and see if that fixed anything.

If anything parts have been polished or stoned I would get rid of them. It is very import to keep all angles correct when doing this type of work and if you are not sure what you are doing it is best not to do it at all. I would get a fire control set that is ready to install out of the box. I am a huge Cylinder and Slide fan for being able to take the parts out of the package installing and having exellent results without doing any fitting provided the frame is built within normal specs.

If you are replacing the hammer and sear I would highly recommend getting a new disconnector and leaf spring too.
