I just traded for a Range Officer, and now I am trying to decide what to do for upgrades. At a minimum I am going to replace the MSH and add an ambi-safety. Probably get some new grips as well, and possibly a flared magwell. Any other necessary upgrades or modifications? Best source for parts? Right now I am looking at Ed Brown and Wilson Combat. Also, what aftermarket magazines run well in this pistol?
This is my first 1911 project, so I want to do it right.
Pics to follow when it comes in the mail.

Shoot it and decide for yourself what the short comings of the pistol are.  No sense in dropping a bunch of money on parts just to do it.

These really are not meant to address any shortcomings. Mostly just for cosmetic, and to make it "mine." I have a crippling disease which leaves me unable to leave things stock
One big question. Can I add a bobtailed MSH to this pistol, or would that require the frame to be rounded off? Pretty much I just like the bobtail look. No other reason.

bobtail = frame modification.

Change the grips, but a few 1,000 reloads down range then make your changes.
