I picked up a Kimber Raptor II lightly used about 4 months ago. Took it to the range for 2nd time today, had it double on my twice. Also had a couple of instances where it ejected the fired cartridge, but the slide didn't make it back into battery to chamber another round. Also one instance of it chambering a round, but the hammer not cocking. Finally, one failure to eject. All of these issues occured while firing about 80 rounds of winchester white box FMJ's. Used a variety of mags. What do I need to look at on the gun to correct these issues?

let me give you Kimbers standard answers
"Sounds like limp wristing to us.....have you shot a .45 before?" "Did you shoot 800 rounds through it yet to break it in? Call us back after you do this and if the problem still exists" "Sounds like under lubrication to us...do you know how to clean a gun?" Kimber is not exactly know for their QA these days. Try different ammo before anything else. If that doesn't work.....then the most common issue I have seen has been springs. Kimber springs do not seem to be that good. I encountered a barrel drilled off center in a Kimber I had....(yes their QA can be that bad). It caused all sorts of issues as it was difficult to see... Kimber has erratic qa which is the worst in my opinion. One of my Kimbers has been amazing....the other a total piece of shit. good luck |

If it is doubling, there is a good chance the sear angle is off and needs gunsmith attention. On the failure to feed/failure to eject, it might be recoil spring and/or extractor tension. Since you tried different mags the spring & extractor are more likely.
Don't try to solve the feed issues until you have the doubles solved for. In fact, you might just want to have the smith give it a once over. Quoted:

I would start with the rollmark. Thanks for the useless post. Really informative. Keep up the good work. You bought a gun, made by a company that for the last several years has had known quality issues and are having issues with it. So while useless maybe, the post was somewhat informative in that the problem most likely lies with the fact that it is a kimber. Good luck with their customer service as from what I hear it's on par with their quality control. |

Every company has bad guns get out but it sounds like someone tried to fix something on this gun and made it worse. |

To add on to what some where have said....
One person asked if the Raptor was a Series 70...what they mean is that is does not have the Series II safety. A lot of Kimber's issues have been brought on by Kimber implementing "improvements" without knowing what the fuck they are doing. The External extractors were a disaster. Kimber quietly phased most of those out after making lots of statements about how the original extractors were shit. Turns out that Kimber couldn't make a reliable .45 with an external extractor. The Series II safety was a disasater with the tuning of the safety (pin engagement) being off on a number of guns..allowing the trigger to be pulled, hammer to drop..but the firing pin was not released to go forward. That is the issue I encountered on my POS Kimber. Their Quality Control went to hell as well. My POS Kimber had a barrel that was drilled off centerline...resulting in failures to feed and extract. How in the hell do you get a barrel drilled off center? Kimber rebuilt that entire gun. My Pre Series II CDP Compact is a joy however...it is an early Kimber...and is 100% reliable. That is what is frustrating...one gun can be an absolute jem.....while the next sucks ass. Kimber customer service is pretty crappy at best. Good ole Dennis.......what a fucking joke. I traded my bad Kimber....I now have one great one.....but I will never buy another Kimber again. PS...now SIG suffers the same as Kimber did since Ron Cohen (Previously CEO at Kimber) went to Sigarms USA. Sig quality now has gone down hill. Coincidence? |

I've owned four Kimbers, so I'm not just another hater, spouting ignorance. Trolls gonna troll. Every company has bad guns get out but it sounds like someone tried to fix something on this gun and made it worse. LOL, screwed THAT one up! My post is right here ^^^^. |

I would try a new recoil and mainspring and go from there.
Also, check the trigger overtravel screw. It may have been turned in too far which is causing the doubling/hammer follow. Unscrew it half a turn and see if the problem goes away. If it does, put some loctite on it. |
My kimbers have been great.
