Has anyone found it difficult to find NIB 1911 pistols between the $800-1600 price range for sale recently?

There seems to be a shortage of Colt Rail Gun, SA TRP Light Rail, and Kimber TLE/RL II.  I have been told it's a several month wait for many of these models.

Not in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area.  I went to two gun shows this summer and all the dealers had lots of them.

I'm speaking of online retailers as well.  They are calling the manufacturers and they just don't have a good handle on the ETA of these models.  Heck a lot of these manufacturers are willing to sell it to you (ship to an FFL) as an individual if you can produce mil credentials.

That's the case here in NJ as well.

If anyone knows of any major retailer in their state that has a decent stock/quantity of this please let me know.  I'll try for a transfer through an FFL.

Too much fist-pumping, too few 1911s.

Probably 20 or more in the local gunshop. Everything from low end imports from the Phillipines to A WW1 reissue by Colt.

what u r probably hearing when you are quoted a "several month wait" is the time from when a dealer orders a gun directly from the manufacturer, assuming all inventory has been previously shipped out, until the time that gun arrives at the shop  Many manufacturers make their guns in batches and interval between one batch and the next batch of identical models can be quite some time.  when people are seeing such guns popping up in local gun shops are probably guns that already were in the distribution pipeline.  dumb luck (good and bad) can play a role in availability as well.

Also the "several month" wait quote tends to be on the generous side of overestimation.  They will quote u a 12 week wait, that way when if it shows up early at say.. 8 weeks, u are a pleasently surprised.  also they tell u that so u dont call to ask them where your delivery is until a long long time
