I have now completed the install of a new thumb safety on my Kimber Warrior.

On my second try.
It works and passes the click test, but it is still very tight on the engagement side.

My questions are:
1.  How much space is there supposed to be between the safety and the sear?
2.  What can I do to lighten the engagement?

1.  None, just kissing it.

2.  Try bending the detent spring inside the plunger tube.  If there is too much contact between the safety and the sear you may actually be contending with the mainspring. . .

Good luck.

just remove a verry little amount off the saftey, don't go bending springs.

Well I did it.

Everything is back to normal.

The 1911 is back in service and my revolver is moved back to the desk.

Thanks for all the help.  This place is great
