I have seen a pair of these in the store.  The prices are great for the features you get.  My dad wants a 1911.  So, I have been on the lookout for one.

Can someone please tell me more about these?

Update to come!

i have one of their commanders.  I would compare it to a RIA 1911- made in the Phillipines, cast frame, lots of MIM parts.

I've only taken mine out once, but I put over 200 rounds through it, only stopping to reload the mags.  It ate everything I fed it- WWB, Federal,Magtech JHPs, Speer Gold dots and Winchester Bonded.  I did replace the grips with a set of VZs, as well as the recoil spring as the factory one just felt weak.

So far I am very satisfied with mine.

I bought this today with the plan of giving it to my dad.  He wants a 1911.  I am usually a Springfield guy.  But, the price on this was $425.  It has some nice features.

I put about 100 rounds through it today.  It ran perfectly.  I ran all kinds of bullets and velocities through it.  The sights were off, but it is correct now.

I am very impressed with the quality of this gun.  If you are looking for a 1911, give some thought to the Metro Arms American Classic II.

If you have any questions, post them up.

I believe they come from the Armscorp factory along with RIA, Charles and Daly (defunct) and maybe a few more...

Mine has been 100% also... close to 2000 rounds so far, FMJ, and various JHP.  Likes gold dots.

From what I understand Metro arms is not associated with Armcorp.

You are correct. The Metro Arms pistols are not associated with Armscorp in any way, shape and only in form(1911's of course). They are made at a completely different factory and IMHO are built to tighter specs then the RIA or Daly pistols. I own the American Classic II pistol in blue and wouldn't trade it for the world. For an inexpensive gun it shoots everything I throw at it and it does accurately too. They are the best value out there for an upgraded 1911. You can not go wrong in choosing to get one. I am lusting aCommander sized pistol.
