would you guys recommend for concealed/open carry and range use?  I already have a set of the double diamonds.  and while I like them, I think I want something a bit more aggressive, but wont be a cheese grater on my love handles.

I kinda want to try the Operators II, but I think the ETCs might be a better choice.

I think the Gunner Grips look to be a good in between grip. I also can't make up my mind, I think I am going to just make myself order a pair so I can't change my mind

i do really like the VZ DDs.  They really are a step above the Esmeralda DDs I was using.  Being at the range in 90+ degree weather proved to me I need something more than what I had.  But I have more than one 1911.

And then I have to decide what color.

I know. I am pretty sure I'm going with the tan kind of like the Kimber Warrior style look....

I have a set of Gator backs on my ss govt.

I like for the range and what not.  Not so much for carry, like you said love handle deal.

Seems to me that the skin on that part of my body seems to be kinda sensitive to being rubbed with a semi agressive surface.

I just got a officer model today for carry and it has smooth grips.  I am actually thinking of buying two sets of grips for it and but the smooth on the inside and the grippy on the outside.

I had a pair of Operators on my CCW Kimber and it was like a cheese grater on my skin.  I switched to Aliens...much more comfortable.  Having said that, I miss the aggressive grips, so I'm going to order Gunners for on my TRP.

aliens are the best compromise between decent grip but not too aggressive for everyday ccw carry. anything sharper becomes worrisome to my love-handles.

If you don't wear an undershirt, Operator IIs are not a good choice, they are very cheese grater-esque.

That said, I do wear an undershirt when carrying IWB, and I freaking love my Operator IIs

I'd look into the Aliens otherwise.

The Operator II's look amazinly like my Mil-Tac's.  You couldn't pry them out of my cold dead hands.

When I get my SA Champion back from being refinished I am going to put a set of these on them:

VZ Tactical Diamonds. Don't know how aggressive they are, but they don't look too rough.

I believe VZ makes the G10 Diamonds for Wilson too.  I put a set on my X-TAX and they're outstanding; not too aggressive, but plenty of no-slip grip.

VZ Aliens should fit what you are looking for.  I had a set of tactical diamonds and they turned out to be too painful to carry.  The aliens don;t hurt me to carry and actually hold the gun in place better in my hand when firing.

Don't let them fool you, they are plenty rough and very sharp.  Nothing a little light sanding couldn't cure though.
