I have been looking at getting one for a while.
On gunbroker they list from 350 all the way up to 1200 (based on the variants).
When they first came into the country from the different importers, they could be had for 299 IIRC.
If you don't have a 1911 then keep it and shoot it.
If you do have a 1911 and no desire to keep it you can sell it pretty easily.
I have seen some people use them as base guns for modifications and upgrades but alot of people are keeping them original now.

I put 50 rounds down the pipe when i first got it shoots pretty good i was suprised . I do have another 1911 and i dont shoot it much either. The sites on this old timer just plain suck IMO or maybe it's just my eyes getting old.

I see 3 of them for sale on Gunbroker looks like they go for more than $350, But yeah they are all 3 different than mine.

Sorry, I meant that the cheapest one I have seen recently STARTED (listed) at $350  with a reserve and sold for more or was relisted for more when it didn't hit the reserve.

ETA: Your right the ones I see on gunbroker right now are bidding at anywhere from $399 to $2500 but many are not meeting the reserve at over $500

ETA 2: this was the one that sold for about 350 recently that I was remembering.

I bought mine for $249 back in 1996.

These days they tend to sell for $500-600.  Lipses (sp?)imported some a while back that were beat all to hell, those go for somewhat less.

Yours appears to have been issued to the ministry of the interior.  The black WWII style stocks are original.  Barrel, slide, frame, and magazine should have matching serial numbers.  Since you blurred out the SN I can't tell you what year it was built.

Aren't the Ministry of Interior, National Police models selling for a premium due to the fact that they are not the most common (Ejercito Argentino)?

ETA: Here is one of the National Federal Police pistols listed to give you an idea for your pistol

They are very well made guns. Not just the fit, but the materials and metallurgy as well. I would love to have another Sistema, but for the money that they go for now, it is smarter to buy a new Springfield with customer service support than to buy a Sistema.

I wish that I had bought a couple more back when I had my C&R and they were inexpensive.

From this thread it looks like yours may have been made in 1950

This.. at one point they were a steal...I would like to get one for a build, nice grab!

Keep it. I wish I would have gotten a couple of them when they were around $250. I swear I remember them still being that cheap in the AIM sales flyer around 2003 but that may be incorrect.

I'd still like to have one but I'm not paying the current asking price for one. I'll stick with SA.

As already mentioned in the thread, they were one time considered cheap surplus and were selling for less than $300.
As time goes on the ones for sale show extensive wear to the original finish or are refinished all together as yours is.
A truly pristine sample with everything matching including magazines will fetch 1K from a collector.

I wouldn't pay more than $600 for one with very nice original finish and no more than $400 for a refinished.
For these prices you can buy a new production pistol that has factory support should anything go wrong.

The only draw I see to them is the all steel construction and checkered small parts.

I think it's pretty neat and would keep it, if it were me.  Especially if it proved to be a reliable specimen.

With the price of USGI pistols these days, IMHO these are a good substitute.

I had one that I should never have parted with. It had without a doubt the best trigger I've ever had on a GI gun, and better than a number of commercial 1911's I've owned. I did pick up another one since. if I were you, I would keep it and shoot it.

Mine was shot till the the bluing was almost gone then got a Kimber slide. And now is in for a few more mods. I got it for 300 a while back as a base to build on. They don't seem to command much money around here. If anyone needs a Sistema top end let me know
