I have an old Colt that had been used as a target gun by its previous owner.  I hate the tall rear sight thats on it.  I really prefer the 3 dot type sights and I want to change these to that style.  The rear sight says "Micro" on it and is adjustable.  All of my other 1911s have Novak stlye cuts in the slide, and this one is much smaller.  I think it's a GI type cut, but I don't want to order a rear sight for a GI dovetail and have it not fit.  If I get the slide cut, which I'd rather not do, it will be for Novak style.  I put a caliper on it and the part of the sight that fits in the dovetail is .337".  So can anyone reccomend a rear sight for me that fits my slide without maching it?  This sight is the same as the one on the 1962 Army National Match pistols, minus the armory stamp.

Let me see if I have a rear sight that will fit your sight pocket.  If I have one, PM me your address and I'll mail it to you.  It will be a used sight, but should be fine for fitting.  Front sight may need some adjustment, but you can cross that bridge if you need to later.

I have about 5 of them used.  The base measures .330, but the corners have been broken so it may just tap into the pocket..  I could be a little loose so loctite and some peening of the sight may tighten it up for you.  The height of the sight is .325 tall.

It's used and has 2 white dots.  If you want it, PM me and I'll drop it off in the mail for you.  If you can use it, enjoy it.  If it doesn't work, set it aside and pass it along to somebody later.

Is the front sight staked in or is it dovetailed?  Could you measure the height for me?  If the sight is dovetailed, can you remove it because I have some dovetail sights I'm not using either.

Front sight is soldered in place from the bottom, no dovetail.  I was planning on "adjusting" the sight with a file.
