You've seen his work on covers of gun magazines. You've talked about his work and just not known that some of that work was his.

His name is Jason Perkins, sole proprietor of a one man custom shop and here's a preview.

You saw it here first.

I'm all about it neighbor, thanks for that!

I'll take a basic commander length in stainless, beavertail, ambi safery, fixed sights, GI plug and no front serrations please.

Can I afford a basic model without taking out a loan from the bank?  There's the question.

No, my name is David Clark. Jason Perkins is both a mentor and friend.
As far as details and pricing ? Jason hasn't shared any details with me.

I'm pretty sure pricing would be around Ed Brown or Wilson Combat pricing. Jason hand fits one part at a time, one pistol at a time.

Can you (or he) tell us how Jason learned about 1911s?

I don't want to bust his balls or yours, but I know a lot about 1911s myself, and have built a few.  I'm not a gunsmith, but I'm confident enough in my own work that I'd carry it.  I'm just interested in more background.

This just a pre-view of an up and coming custom company and the owner so happens to be a friend.

I'll tell you what I'll do. He has in house serial numbers 1 thru 10. As each of those is built I will post here, complete with parts list so you can see what sets Jason's pistols apart from other shops.

It would be nice if Jason did chime in with some history, but I'm betten he won't have anything to say until he produces something you can see.

First off, I am in no way affiliated with Perkins customs, although I have been lucky enough to have been inside the mans shop. He is not the new guy on the block. He has been doing custom work for many years now. This is just the first time he's offically had his name on something and I am very much looking forward to the finished product after seeing some of his previous work. As far as history he is also a long time competitor in competitions such as the Bianchi cup where he has run his own guns. I can promise you have seen his work on the cover of magazines from big time 1911 'smiths, who is kept confidential to maintain a good working relationship. It would be nice to here from the man himself but he spends much more time in the shop than fooling around on the computer.

Like I mentioned, I am impatiently waiting for the finished product...

Jason has been working on my guns for about the last five years.  Among the things I have had him do is rebarrel a 7mm-08, put a Timney trigger in it and glass bed it.  I can cover three shots at 100 yards with a dime when I do my part.  Prior to that the best group was about 1.75" to 2".  This isn't a fancy high dollar rifle.  It started as a Ruger Compact.

I have already ordered one of his 1911's.  Actually mine will be the first one built.  The frame will be case hardened which I think is not only going to make it distinctive but one of the classiest looking pistols at the range.

Everything Jason has done for me has been with minute attention to detail and lots of TLC.  I can't wait to get it and NO, it will never be for sale.  It is going to be an heirloom pistol that will be passed on to my boys and then to their children.

I hope Jason gets on here and gives the details of my pistol.  I would attempt to do it but I'm sure I would screw it up.  haha
