I have a Glock 21:

I was looking for a Springfield 1911 and a local guy wants to trade my G21 setup for this:

It's a 1911 A1 with:

Trijicon night sites
serpa paddle holster
2 mags
The original box
And a few rusted Military mags

My question is, is this a fair trade.

I don't know what the 1911's are worth as this is would be my first one.

Hopefully, soon, i'll pop my 1911 cherry

TIA

Probably fair.  Looks like a nice NM ser# (USA assembled) SA Mil-Spec with a few goodies.  It would sell as it is for about $500-550.  Unfortunately, the extras do not increase the value.  You're gonna hear plenty of crap about the rubber wraparounds, so be ready.

And, with all due respect....please get that picture of the Block out of the 1911 forum!!

Good luck.

If you want the Springfield, go for it. It will hold it's value better than the Glock.

Pretty even trade I think.

Looks to be about even.  From what I've seen of the base prices for the Springer in question vs. the G21's new, you're actually getting a hair of a better deal.

All I'd do with that Springer would be put in a longer trigger, flat MSH, and different grips.

I think it's fair, no one will make out better than the other and I think that's a good thing. Both are great guns.
I personally have a MilSpec very similar to that one that I have done some tinkering to and it's been 100% reliable even with me messing with it for almost 2,000 rounds. Mine is also a NM prefix MilSpec. I also have the Triji's on mine and they aren't the best looking sights but they sure work great. If you are willing to part with your G21, a MilSpec Springfield would not be a bad 1st 1911 at all.

I am a person who believes the 21 is a good gun but I also think the 1911 is an excellent gun.   If it were me I would do the trade.

Do it now, unless that glock is your defense pistol, then no way

I would not trade a Glock for an equivalent 1911...keep the Glock.

However, if you can do better on the trade, then I would consider it.
