I only have one 1911. It's a Springfield GI model given to me by a friend.
I'd like to get a few more mags for the weapon but I don't know which brands I should be looking at.
Looking to keep the GI style, no bumpers, extra capacity or the like.
Who do you recommend?

TIA

OE mags are Metal Forms...excellent magazines available most anywhere as well as from Springfield...

Stock Springfield 7 rounders are great if you want a flush fit. Even though I have several Wilson 8 rounders, I have used my two 7 rounders that came with my MilSpec four years ago and they have been flawless and I like the flush fit for conceal carry.

Wilson Combat 7 round HD/+P magazines.

Checkmate also makes good Hybrid magazines.

Tripp Research make great magazines. In my gun they need the EGW higher magazine catch to seat properly, but that could just be a tolerance stacking issue with my gun.

I've had good luck with Wilson 47D magazines in my 1911's.

Wilson 47Ds have never failed me in 13 years of constant use.I have a rotation of 15 of them.

I've used Chip McCormicks with good results, their 8 rounder will also fit flush but I have reliability issues with them when their fully loaded

What do you want to feed your gun with? FMJ/ball ammo? 200gr LSWC? JHP?

I thought all mags were the same, then I read this:

http://how-i-did-it.org/magazines/

That being said, I've had no failures with my stock Springer 7 round mags. I will probably grab some more, when the price is right.

No need to spend a lot on mags. Contact Springfield. Their standard 7 rd mags are great for what it sounds like you want and I just received 10 for 9.00 a piece I have the Chip McCormicks, Tripps, and Novaks. The SA mags (Metalform) work just as good and are 1/3 the price. The only drawback is you lose 1 round capacity.

If you want to use it like a GI gun, check out the Checkmate GI magazines with GI style feedlips.  Supposed to be brilliantly smooth with ball ammo.

No affiliation to the Joe's mag guy, but those are my pics of them on that thread.....and they are holding up.  I am thinking of getting another 10 as I have a RIA Match 45 on 10 day California wait right now for my son and will need more mags too.  I probably have a couple thousand rounds thru 6 of them mags so far with no issue.  I sold 4 to my neighbor, but I don't think he has had any shooting time to test his out yet.
