I am looking to purchase a 1911 and have been looking at Les Baer's but want to spend no more than $1500 on one.  I really wanted a higher end one and want one very accurate out the box.  I am very new to 1911 but after a weekend of training with Tiger McKee and seeing several 1911's, I want one now.  Need some help on what 1911 I should buy.....

Something used by Les Baer will be better than anything else, new, in that price range.

IIRC, there were 2 Baer's on the EE @ $1500 or less in the last couple weeks.

Dan Wesson Valor, $1500, or less out the door and on par with some of the Big Boys.

It's no great feat to find a used Baer for under $1500, if you're not too picky as to features.

les baer's entry level concept I and II are under 1500 new, the only feature they don't include is a checkered front strap which I don't find essential anyway. They are still built very tight and highly accurate. My own les Baer was bought used and it would be easy to find a used baer in the 1500 range- you can't even compare production guns like the SA's to a baer.
