Any other reputable makers in a similar price range? The Premiere II seems like a lot of pistol for the price. (The consensus seems to be no.) Do they offer a military discount? (According to LB, no.) Can you specify custom features, i.e. 20 LPI front strap checkering vs 30? (Yes, this isn't a problem, but the order becomes a custom order, and they advertise a 20 week wait.) Yes, I know I can clear some of this up tomorrow when their office opens. I'll share what I learn at that point. (I talked to John over at 1911heaven, he is one of the largest, if not the largest LB dealers out there. His prices are excellent.) |

Dan Wesson Valor is roughly equivalent. Springfield TRP is supposedly built with a comparable level of handwork but their parts are meh. STI is not quite on an equal footing from a quality perspective, but they bridge the gap between Colt / Kimber/ SA etc. and Baer and the other semi-customs... all IMO of course. Baer will do some custom features, I think 20 lpi is an option they can provide. No clue on the military discount. |

IMHO Les Baer makes the best 1911 for the money and they are comparable to pistols costing more. I have owned 4 of them and not had a single issue with one through tens of thousands of rounds. They are extremely accurate and built to run and run hard.
I just lent my Super Tac to a buddy for a LAV 1911 class and it didn't have a singe failure. That same pistol has been through 6 LAV classes and has yet to have a failure. I also own Wilson, Ed Brown and Nighthawk and if I'm not pulling my NH Vickers Recon or my Full House Harrison, I am pulling a Baer. Hard to beat a Baer. I also think more hand fitting goes into his pistols than any other with one exception and that is the Wilson Supergrade... The SA Pro is also an outstanding option though the turn around time can be a bit of a bummer... |

I love the HELL out of mine. My only (slight) issue is the front cocking serrations (they rust easily, and it is impossible to press check a Baer, so what's the point!?) http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y95/jerrellwise/1911%20Pics/file-6.jpg They do lock up tight, but come on, it's not impossible. My problem with the slide serrations is that they're soooo close together and hard to clean! I sit there for 5 minutes with my thumb nail and try to get one piece of junk out of there. LOL |

20 weeks is a long time and I know the wait may be a bit longer since it's tax season and all but I had mine in about 9 weeks from Hammond. Ordered late November and had it late January. http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a20/Corso0331/DSC02818.jpg Nice! I am happy with both of my Baers. Having own(ed) Kimber, Springfield, Colt, Dan Wesson, Taurus(what a piece of .....), and Norinco, I think they are a lot of gun for the money. |

My Les Baer's are very well made sidearms. Price is in line with what you get. Accuracy is excellent, super reliable with decent ammo. I've got a TRS and a Custom Carry, both 5", night sights and simple blue finish. Solid firearms. Both will tear a ragged hole at 25 yds. off a sandbag. Both have several thousand rounds, no problems whatsoever. Sold two Series 70's to buy the Custom Carry, glad I did. |

HTFU!
