I am interested in a railed Commander-style 1911.  Most Commanders I have seen are not railed, unless a Dawson rail has been added.  I am also aware of the SA Champion Operator, but the 4" bushingless barrel gives me some concern about potential reliability issues and the need to replace springs rather frequently.  I suppose I could get a used Commander and go custom, with a Dawson rail.  Am I missing any options I should consider?  Thanks!

S&W and Sig make railed commander sized pistols with a bushing. Kimber and Springfield run the bushingless game. According to my Kimber Pro TLE's manual the recoil spring  needs replacing every 800 rounds and all other springs every 5000 rounds.

As far as I know, there are no 4.25" Commanders with rails.  Sound's like you'll have to go full custom or a dawson rail.

Fusion will make you one, but it will come with a semi-custom price tag and wait.

Ed Brown offers a rail as a custom option on his commanders.

the railed Sig commander was a limited run and are pretty hard to come by, you'll have to go semi-custom for a railed commander with bushing barrel

Can a Dawson rail be installed on a commander dustcover?
