IF that's a loaded, that's a helluva deal.  If it's a Mil-Spec, still a "good" deal.

And... if something is wrong with it, or goes wrong with it, SA will fix it.

I can't answer your questions, sorry.  I can say that I have a SA 1911A1, a "Defender", and it has never failed to fire.

Snag it up if you want a good 1911. Springfield will back it.

If its a standard G.I  I would just buy a new one, but if its the loaded or milspec that would be a good deal.

$550 for a GI you are getting ripped off.  The mil-spec would be questionable too, as I can buy them OTD for $600 new and would rather have a new gun for $50 more that I know was never bubba'd.  For a Loaded I'd jump all over it.

That sounds way too high for a used Mil-Spec 1911.

I think one of them was a "loaded", if that has a circle design on the grip...
The other one is all gray/black even the grips,,which may be a mil Spec....

This should help you a little. It will, in turn, help us a little. It kinda sounds like you might be looking at a Mil-spec and a Loaded? Am I right? $550 isn't the greatest deal for a used mil-spec, but it's a good deal for a used Loaded.

Loaded:
Novak sights
Commander Hammer
Beavertail grip safety
Extended thumb safety
Lowered and flared ejection port
Slanted rear cocking serrations
Slanted Front cocking serrations
Marked "Model 1911-A1 over Cal .45" on left side.

Milspec:
Tall GI style sights
GI Spur hammer
GI grip safety
GI thumb safety
Lowered and flared ejection port
Fine slanted rear cocking serrations only
Marked "Model 1911-A1" over "Cal .45" on left side

GI:
Tiny GI sights
GI spur hammer
GI grip safety
GI thumb safety
Original high ejection port
Vertical fine rear cocking serrations only
Marked "Model 1911-A1" only on left side.

just got a Springfield 1911 loaded & it's super nice.  i also like the Mil-Spec (as opposed to the GI).

fit, finish, & function on my loaded all seem on par with the Kimbers i've shot, & it's about $400 less than a comparable Kimber

A stainless Loaded for $550 is a steal. I'd be on that like flies on stink!
