All I want is a plain old no frills, other than a beavertail grip safety, 1911, good quality, not too tight of slide / frame fit, need a little room for dirt and grit, and no worthless forward slide serations on that otherwise beautiful tool.  Oh, one more thing....made in USA.  Now who makes this beast, for around a $1000?

This..Saw them at the November GS for $735. Looked nice but didn't care for the rear target sight but that can be replaced with anything on the market and still keep you well under a grand.

Really?  I'd like to hear how that works.  Lets say I want to replace it with Novak sights.  Please tell me how that can be done.

John Harrison has a fixed rear sight to replace BoMar and LPA cut adjustable sights.  the sight on the RO is an LPA cut.

here's what the Harrison sight looks like.

if you want Novak's, you'll have to have the slide welded up, and re-worked.

You might be able to find a new Dan Wesson RZ Heritage 45 close to that price. Although it may be a bit tighter than what you're looking for. If you're willing to go used you really open up your options.

Back in my day, we didn't have "front cocking serrations"  we just cocked it with the rear ones till our fingers bled...and that's the way it was AND WE LIKED IT!!!!

We didn't have "magazine wells" we just jammed the mag in the hole till it broke in half...and that's the way it was AND WE LIKED IT!!!!

Ahh, I could go on and on.  Just messin, OP.  I like a nice simple 1911 sometimes too.

IDK about that R1 though, heard some spotty reviews.  Guess we'll see.

Isn't the TRP still made in the US? That's what I'm looking at getting, but its slightly over 1k and has front slide serrations though.

I gotta jump in and help you spend that grand.  Colt stainless 70 series current model.
Nice gun, shame about the mags.  Good thing is you do not need any special skills to order Wilson mags.

YOu really don't need a beavertail unless you have hands as big as hams.

Just bob the spur and soften the edges on the rear of the grip safety and the rear tang of the frame where the web of your hand engages the frame.

That's really it.

I ALMOST bought one as you describe, a Smith and Wesson 108285. I found a deal on a Springfield loaded thou and bought that instead. I keep wondering if I shouldn't have just spent the extra $120.00 for the Smith tho.. I love the way it looks.

Here's a pic

IF you can deal with an adjustable sight, I wouldn't hesitate on a Range Master.
