With 2011 upon us and the 100th anniversary of the 1911 imminent, I wanted to get some pics of 1911 Serial Number 1 up. Spent some time today at the Colt exhibit at the State of CT Museum. I have about 200 pictures from the trip that I will be uploading into a picture megathread in GD tomorrow. Lots of special 1911's. I just wanted to get 1911 #1 in here as a teaser.
The harsh lighting and glare along with my shadow made getting good pics difficult. I did my best. |

Quoted: that should have been colt's commemorative there, IMO. would have lost them money, but what's a the harm in takingit on the chin once in appreciation of their biggest meal ticket next to Uncle Sugar's contract? Agreed. high polish blue with fire blue small parts. Minimal rollmarks. They would have sold them no matter what the price was set at, so they could make a profit. Cylinder and Slide is trying to get as close to the original as possible on their 100th yr tribute. I have some higher res pictures and different angles of this gun also. I'll have them all posted in a thread in GD tomorrow at some point. |

| I've been comparing the pictures. One thing I noted different about Colt's #1 and JMB's prototype is that on the prototype the ejection port is lower. I think it's interesting that as the 1911 evolved the ejection ports got lower. JMB had it right the first time around! |
