Here are some grips I had laser engraved to celebrate the Colt 1911 100 yr. anniversary. While not major (less is more !), I like the way they turned out.

Because the Combat Elite grips on the WWI are dark, I included a close-up of the 1911~2011 lettering. The Colt Commander Ahrends grips have the same lettering plus I had the Coltâ„¢ added. I find this to be a less expensive way to celebrate the anniversary.

I intend to do further "2011" mods on some other grips in the near future.

What kind of laser do they use, and what are their settings to avoid burning the wood? Did it require several low-level passes?

Thanks ! The first set is just a minor modification of stock Combat Elite grips. I did, however think the grips look good on the WWI re-pro.

Thanks !
No deep end. Just looking for ways to celebrate 100 yrs. without spending hundreds (and hundreds !) of dollars.
As I said, "Less is more." so I am looking to add subtle touches that send the message but don't overwhelm.

I stole an idea from someone else here and bought some U.S. Barber silver dime coins dated 1911 and embedded them into the grip panels, one dime centered on each side.
