Looking for the best value under $1K

I have a Dan Wesson PT-CBOB and though about another but it seems the only similar option is the V-BOB for $1500+

I really like the SA Range Officer but would like a Commander length also don't need the adj. sight.

What are your recommendations?

Thank you

Front serrations, Series 80, edges sharp enough to shave with.  I'd rather have a SA loaded for a couple hundred cheaper, but it still has front serrations.  .

I believe they still make the DW Heritage.  That is just a hair over $1000.  One of the best values at that price.

Bought my Springfield Loaded (Parkerized) new for $700.

Use the rest for a GI guiderod set up and ammo.

Great pistol but I wouldn't throw rocks at it. Also, mine didn't have sharp edges and the bitching about the Series 80 systems are meaningless.

I just got the Stainless XSE Commander.
The edges are not that sharp.
The loaded Champion I looked at didn't have front cocking serations.

I would highly recommend anything from STI.  They make an amazing 1911 and always have!  There are finally starting to get the popularity they deserve.

I have a STI Ranger II and it's a great gun for the money. Also look at the STI Spartan for around $600.

There are so few Commander length non-bull barrel models out there

Colt and Dan Wesson are all I'm finding

I just purchased a Colt Combat Elite (Enhanced) for well under $1k new. All the newer ones I've handled have been fantastic in the fit/finish department and they also now have the memory/speed bump on the grip safety, which is the one thing I hated about the earlier XSE CE's.......

What he said.  Mine completely changed my opinion of Colt.  Now I want a few more.

Agreed

As much as I find them ugly, I could overlook that for an STI

Another vote for the SIG. The XO is an especially good value. Checkered front strap, ion bond finish, aggressive grips, very accurate.
