How are they? I saw one once in a gun store in the used gun section and kind of liked it, but it was a rattle trap and had been abused. I've never seen another.
I always kind of wanted one. Anyone out there own one or have any experieces with one? Are they worth owning? |

I still bear the scars from the one I had years ago.
The tiny "grip safety" knub/rounded frame that they have means you have to keep your hand from choking up on the grip too much- especially if you drew it from a holster. Slide bite? Oh my. The slide on my Combat Master had a partially sharp/partially serrated bottom surface to it. I seriously have a scar on top of my knuckle from that little beast. The shorter sight radius didn't do much for the shootability of the rig, and it was mediocre in the reliability department. I wouldn't buy another. |

You're going to have a good time finding mags and recoil springs for it. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone but a die-hard Detonics fan. wasn't someone making them again? http://detonics.ws/ I don't know if they have progressed beyond the 3D modeling stage, but it doesn't look like it. |
| I had a Detonics combat master in the late 70's & early 80's. Mine was very reliable and had Gold Cup accuracy in a small gun. Only down side for me was the pistol is heavy for its size especially for use in a ankle/leg holster. The Detonics C/M is actually a good bit shorter than an Officers model in the Grip length which was not a problem for me since I have small to average size hands. I traded Departments that didn't permit single action pistols at that time so I sold the Detonics to another officer. With the triple recoil springs the Detonics was easy and pleasant to shoot for such a concealable gun. Personally today I feel there are many viable alternatives to a Detonics 45 ACP even though I liked mine. |
