Are they even worth it? Do any of them cycle well at all? What manufacturers are the best?

I bought a used Colt Conversion Kit for my 1911 in 91'. Still runs fine except with Remington Bulk pack Golden Bullets.
For me it was worth the cost as it gives me low cost training, low noise in certain areas, used it to teach my boys when they were 5 yrs old on a 1911 (same with my M261 AR conversion and MAS 45/Mauser 98 training rifle). CD |

I have a cieiner kit that works great with the federal bulk pack. I sent the money order and order form to ceiner and then forgot about it. About 4 1/2 months later it arrived on my doorstep. It is fun to play with and reliability is good through most of a bulk pack. It will get pretty dirty before it starts a failure to fire on the first round in the mag. But a little bit of clp and it runs great. Plus I love the 15 round mags.
Ceiner has a bad customer service reputation. But I did get my kit. |

| I have a Tactical Solutions 22lr conversion on my Smith & Wesson 1911DK. It took a couple hundred rounds to break it in, runs great now, very accurate. The slide has a hold open on the last round. Very neat design I am glad I purchased it. Only complained would be that it does not fit in a holster. I new this before buying one that the rail and sight sit a little high. If anyone is interested in one the best place I found for price was online at Rimfire Sports and Custom. |
| I had a Colt conversion back in the late 70's which I sold but regretted later. I now have an Advantage Arms 1911 standard kit which I really like. I also have an EAA kit which is no longer supported by EAA. I wish I'd never bought the 1911 EAA kit, to many issues to go into. I wouldn't recommend anyone buy an EAA 1911 kit. The Kimber's I've been around worked good but the slide does not lock back on last round like AA kits. Mag prices for Kimber and AA kits are around $20 to $25 which is cheaper than some other kits. My AA kit has very good accuracy but doesn't like Federal bulk but works pretty good with Remington golden bullets which don't work in my other 22's. I get a lot more trigger time shooting 22's, I shoot an AA kit on my Glocks, 1911 AA kit and several AR 15 dedicated 22 uppers and conversion kits. |

I put mine on my RIA frame and after a couple hundred rounds of Mini-Mags it shoots the Federal and American Eagle(which I believe is rebadged Federal) bulk packs just fine and is light years more accurate than I am. At the time I bought it the only mags Marvel had for it were the steel. I bought a polymer mag from AA and it works perfectly.

Finally, how much are you willing to spend getting a gunsmith to replicate your Nighthawk's/Wilson's/Baer's/etc. trigger pull on a GSG? |
