Springfield MC Operator.  though i don't like the green frame, it has a lifetime warranty and i like the dust cover/rail better.

When I faced that dilemma I went with which ever I got the best buy on. I got my Like New Warrior for $850

I carry Kimbers, but based on Hilton Yam's assessment of several dozen Warriors, I'd never buy one.

My next 1911 will be an MC Operator.

Helps that the wife likes Green

Unfortunately, it's most likely going to be her carry gun, so I won't get to shoot it much

I really like the basic model's from K and S.  Like the GI, Custom II, and TLE II.   But the more expensive models...not so much.  I'd rather make the jump to a semi-custom.  How much are these selling for in your area?

to thrown another gun into the mix, have you looked at the STI Duty One?

I have both, the SF is a better gun.  Lets put it this way, the Kimber 22 adapter doesn't even fit the Kimber Warrior, so I use it on the SF MC Operator.

Both are good pistols but I would choose the SA first.

The Warrior is nice because it does not have the Swartz safety.

Flip a coin.  I'd get the SA for the warranty.

I was in the same boat a few months ago. I was looking at the same ones. I ended up getting the Warrior basically because I couldn't find an MC Operator anywhere and everyone was telling me there was a long wait for them. I honestly did not care which one I ended up with. I have not had a single problem with my Warrior. I did however buy new magazines because the one that comes with the Warrior feels cheap. It may not have the warranty that the Operator has, but if something goes wrong with my Warrior I'll just send it to a custom shop and make it even better, which was my plan for any 1911 I was going to buy.

Don't forget the Kimber TLE RL. I just picked one up and have been very happy through about 300 rounds.

Bought a Desert Warrior because the money was burning a hole in my pocket and a local shop had one. It's been 100% for over 3 years. I'm sure I would have been just as happy with the MC Operator. IMHO both require a grip change.

I chose the Kimber, because i purchased one with some money I had and for $1100, it was a deal for me, specially since it had a 1-piece guiderod, Strider Gunner Gips and night sights already. THough if I choose to buy another 1911, it will probably be an MC Operator.

Id like to get my paws on a MC operator myself.

Which would you go with if the new price for either was about that much?

The same thing happens when you talk to Ford mechanics, or Carrier HVAC repairmen.  Fact is Hilton is a professional 1911 gunsmith, right?  I would expect to see "broken" 1911's in my shop if I were a 1911 gunsmith.

That being said, I believe his advice was that if you wanted the best chance at getting a 1911 that worked right from the dealer to your holster (as a cop), Kimber wasn't going to be it until they addressed some glaringly consistent issues on current production.  Those are real concerns, but not necessarily what you may, or may not get from a new Kimber.  I bet Hilton, Vickers, Hackathorn, Yost, Burton, and others could cherry pick good ones from bad ones before ever leaving the showroom.

If you can find a used Kimber Warrior for a good price, from a known source who says it works, it will be a great 1911.  I have one, I know.

If you can't, you should buy the Springfield MC Operator.  Period.

I voted Operator in the poll, despite my ownership of the Warrior.

It's not really a fair question for others to base their choice on as I routinely work on 1911's and small issues that perplex most folks are easily remedied by me.

If I was new to 1911's or wasn't comfortable working on my own 1911 I'd opt for the Springfield simply because of it's lifetime warranty and amazing customer service.

I like working on my 1911's, but I get what you're saying. Leaning more towards the springer....

I run a Kimber warrior and a SA Champ Operator - I love them both. No complants with over 2K rounds thru each- they both are more accurate than I am.

Buy both or all three like I did. I bought the Kimber black Warrior and the Desert Warrior and the Springfield MC Operator and have no problems.

I had both, still have the MC Operator
