Opinions on tbe TRP? And is it worth the money?

It's a good gun and I've like the 2 I've had.  Fit is better than the Loaded models.

If you are looking at the stainless TRP, also take a look at the Dan Wesson Valor.

I looked at those and they are nice for a production gun.  However, you can get a used custom or semi-custom 1911 for about the same price as a new TRP.

Great gun but I have to question if they are worth what they are starting to get up to pricewise.

Locally they run 1450 at a shop that does a 12% markup over wholesale. I got mine for 1200 bucks with tax and transfer a few years back. It was IMO the best 1200 dollar pistol you could own. Nowadays the Les Baer Custom Carry runs 1600 bucks. Proload always has them in stock and, well its a Les Baer.

Locally, (PHX) the MSRP price on Springfield models went up almost 10%, which puts the TRPs in the $1500 range.
I have a TRP, in fact two of them, and also have a LB that was just a couple of $100 more.  For the small difference, there really isn't much of a choice to be made.

Came across this today on the EE. Might be worth looking into.

They're a good $1200 gun.

Now that they're sitting at $1400 (cheapest I've seen one on any shelf in 3 years), I'd spend another $200 and buy a Les Baer.

And I'm what you might call a Springfield fanboy...

I love my TRP but for the money I spent I really wish I had just bought a slightly used Les Baer TRS.

more TRP pron.

I bought this pre-owned and the original owner sent it to the Custom Shop for some work, so it's pretty much a TRP with Professional upgrade.

To further what I posted above, There are 3 used Les Baer TRS's on the EE right now between $1500 and $1550.

At those prices, I personally could not justify buying a new TRP since the TRS is head and shoulders above it.

I have an Operator with the full rail. I love it. It is a great shooter. My only complaint is the 20LPI checkering on the frontstrap gets a little uncomfortable after an extended range secession.

I've seen the standard model for $1000 or so used here and there. I wouldn't pay more than $1300 - above that, I would start looking at Baer's or another custom outfit.

Mine is VERY VERY accurate. The slide is fitted so well, it feels like it's on ball bearings.

My GF just got a Colt XSE and it feels pretty rough next to the TRP. I was surprised.

It IS a little ammo-sensitive, though and balks at JHP rounds, but will shoot ball ammo all day long. Looks like I'll have to take SA up on their warranty policy...AGAIN.
