Any suggestions for fixing a froze up slide (as in rusted), besides WD40 and a rubber mallet?

Soak the gun in some type of penetrating oil for a day or two.

No offense, but if it's that bad, it probably needs refinishing. I would send it off and let a smith take care of it. Just my two cents.

there are two things that work well .
1) aerokroil made by kano labs .....this is expensive
2) mix 50/50 aotumatic tranny fluid and acetone . it works and is cheap .
