Has anyone had any problems with their factory hi-cap mags? I received two with my pistol a few weeks ago, and the springs seems to be too weak to properly feed the rounds. When the rounds hit the neck in the mag, where they should cock to the correct angle to feed, the rounds do not pass that point. Just wondering if anyone has had this problem also. I ordered some Wolff 10%XP springs today, I'm hoping they will solve the problem. I hate to start bending the mag walls if I don't have to. |

Same prob here too. Got the Wolf springs and new Para followers, still won't hold open on the last round. I think the clear varnish type finish they put on the mags is sticking the follower, (and ammo) when in gets funneled at the top, gonna strip all of that off. Maybe bead blast and then Moly coat bake paint. Brownells has some metal followers, gonna try one of those. I even thought about having a friend add some material to the slide release portion that contacts the follower, their cheap enough. This Para came from Les Baer, it's about to take a trip back, frustrating but I like to tinker. |
I haven't had a problem with hold open, just with feeding. If I still have problems, perhaps I'll take your idea and take the varnish off the inside. I've got access to some mild acids, so I'll just soak them and then wash them. That should remove everything(hopefully not metal) . The metal followers might be a good Idea too. Thanks for the ideas. |
| I received the Wolff springs, and they seem to work great. I was able to rack the slide to empty a full mag, with no hang-ups. I was unable to do that with the factory springs. I hope to get out and fire the springs in the next week or two, Hope they work then too. |

weak mag springs are almost a ParaOrd trademark. I had some feed/chambering issues with my S13 Ltd until I installed the Wolff +10% springs. It's been my daily ccw since the fix--about 2 yrs ago and many thousands of rounds It has been utterly reliable since the spring swap. Just do a Google search for wolff springs, and you can order them direct from Wolff. |
Directly from wolff springs. I don't have the website name right off the bat, and am typing in a hurry. Check google, it will be easy to spot. their web guide is very easy to use, you will find the springs in an instant. |
| I had a batch of mags that gave me problems, and I ordered the Arredondo upgrade kits from Brownells. They ran great after that, though they were plus two kits that stuck out of the gun more. They came with obnoxious purple followers, new springs, and new floorplates. Five years and a lot of rounds later they still function perfectly. |

I've replaced the springs on every Para mag I have. Wolff is the only way to fly- even when I've stretched the OEM springs out they are weak. BTW Anybody else try spraying Teflon inside the magazine while it was apart? I do this and run the follower on some Emory paper to smooth it up. That and a Wolff spring is a nice perk up on the mag. |

Im having same problems with my Para-ordnance frame project...it is functioning flawlessly but when the 13th round comes....the slide would lock back (slide stop engaged) even if there is still a round on the magazine....what do you think guys???.......should i trim the COLT slide stop or should i suspect the mag. follower?...........some says it is the mag. spring... |
. The metal followers might be a good Idea too. Thanks for the ideas.
