I am holding one for a friend to sell. It has the VZ Alien grips and 3 factory mags. LNIB. He says $500.00 firm. I plan on shooting it this day. Pass or consider-Your thoughts? I am asking because I have read a lot of dis-like of them on this site. I understand about the finish. But 1911's I don't own and my time with them was when I carried one in the Corps way back when. (The feel of one in the hand is hard to describe) Thanks to all.
i like mine, got it earlier this year, somewhere in the vicinity of 4000 rnds through it. I've slicked it up and smoothed out the internals, spray painted it a few times, installed a full length guide rod and extended slide stop. it runs whatever ammo I put through it,

I have the gi in stainless. The finish is holding up well, but its not a carry gun. It shoots great and eats up lead reloads well. The factory mags are only OK for range use. Do not try and use them in a protection situation. They have given me many stove pipes. My cmc power mags have been 100%

I am a few hundred loads into mine and I like it as well as the high priced Springfield Loaded model I had. It does not have bells and whistles, but I like that. Mine is a tack driver and I have consistently been able to shoot 50-100 yard targets (10x10 steel). My only problem is I shoot lead reloads, and the barrel is quite rough and it collects lead fouling.

I checked out a black GI Expert today at my local gun store. I like it. A typical 1911 .45. I am going to take in a Smith to try for a trade for the Expert. This pistol had a nick on it and the grey metal was showing under the black finish. What is this stuff? Black paint?
