What are a persons options for changing a 1911's sights from a GI rear cut to something like a Novak or Heinie? Can it be done? Does anyone have pics of the end result?
I'm looking to put a set of Heinie ledge sights on a SA mil-spec. |

Says this one fits in a GI dovetail, and they will install it for $35. Might need new front sight as well

It's actually easier to mill a GI sight for a Novak than it is to start with a blank slide. The instructions Novak includes assume you already have a rear GI sight dovetail.
This is the cut I prefer; there are more aftermarket sight options for it than the Heinie cut. |
