What has been your experience with this little big gun? How can I improve it? Any cool accessories? Thanks for your opinion gang! Probably the best handgun bargain on the surplus market. For about $200, you get a military-quality pistol that will go "bang" everytime. Plus, the ergonomics on that little gem are better than you'll often find on guns costing 2 or 3 times more. Once you buy a $200 CZ-82, you'll cringe the next time you pay $500+ for a "nicer" gun that in fact won't work any better than the 82. Some of them have problems with the conical-nosed Wolf ammo. But all other ammo should work great. There are some custom made wood handgrips. Add those, and you'll be good to go. |
| I like mine, but I'm not aware of too many accessories for them. Makarov.com no longer sells anything, but there is still some good info on 9x18 firearms. You might also ask over here: http://forums.gunboards.com/forumdisplay.php?46-The-Makarov-Forum |

Tag'd for more info... I've been looking to get my CCW, but being a poor college student the spare funds I have to throw towards a good quality, reliable handgun are limited. I'm thinking this little bastard might be the ticket!
ETA - Not trying to thread hijack, but I'm also curious about the effectiveness of the 9x18 round. How close does it come to the 9x19? |

My brother carries one of these daily. It's a nice pistol and an excellent deal for 200$.
13 rounds of 9x18 is no joke. Load FMJ's in it, not HP's, and it'll do the job just fine. It's inferior to a modern 9mm ballistically, but FMJ's will get the job done. I'd rather have 9x18 than a .380acp; they are roughyl equivalent with the edge going to the 9x18 just barely. Treat it like a damn nice 13 rounds .380acp. |

Modern 9x19 is much better then 9x18 in all aspects. The good thing is that 9x18 gets the job done. I love my CZ 82 and I'll post some pics tomorrow night so you can see it. I don't think there is any gun better for the price. Mine is "like new" for $180 from CDNN. |
