I am thinking about getting a new 9mm in addition to the .45, I saw a Sig pro in the gunshop the other day; and I must say, it had a good price.   How do the Pros compare to the original Sigs in terms of accuracy and reliability?

I have never owned a Glock; are they as accurrate as the Sig Pros?  I have no doubt that Glocks are reliable, anyone who has seen U.S. Marshals knows that.

So tell me what you guys think,   Thanks, Chris

By and large, most handguns from the big name makers are all about the same as far as accuracy and reliability. Sure one might have a slight edge over others, but generally it's very slight.

Unless of course you are talking "special" models HK USP Mark 23, Expert, Tactical etc. that have special features for greater accuracy,  more up keep, and a dramatically higher price.

Which gun fits your hand best.
Which guns operating system do you feel most comfortable with.

If the answer to both those questions is the same..........................

I don't like Glocks. Not only have they never produced anything for our millitary but they are the uglyist auto made.

I own a SigPro 2340.  I used to have a Glock 19 and Glock 34.  All three were reliable!  The SigPro was more accurate than the glocks in side-by-side shooting with Winchester White box ammo at the same distance.  I still have the SigPro, but the Glocks are history.

I also have two other 9mm's: XD9 and USP9.  I shot these 9's along side with the Glocks, too.  Both the XD9 & USP9 were more accurate than the Glocks with the same ammo at the same distance.  I still have the XD9 and the USP9.  As stated above, the Glocks are history.

I had fun with all of the handguns mentioned.  But I kept the ones that were more accurate.  I know others have had different experiences.  This was my experience over the past 3 years.

As the mark is not acquired for the purpose of missing the aim, so neither does the nature of evil exist in the world!

My SigPro 2340 is both reliable and accurate. I believe it to be more accurate than a Glock, but I'm not ready to start a huge debate with anyone over the matter; I base the accuracy comment on the awkward and too fat feeling grip the Glock has for me. In terms of reliability my SigPro has had no problems to date at about 2,500 rounds through.

I remember when the Sigpro came out, and I still can't stand the guns.  Why on earth Sig would design a new gun that doesn't take their old existing magazines is beyond me.  The bore-axis of the gun is ridiculously high as well.  The grips, even with the smallest one installed, are way bigger than they need to be.

There are alot of folks out there that worship at the altar of Sig, and will buy this gun simply because it has the name on it.

There are also alot of folks out there that are going to vote Sig in your poll simply because it doesn't say Glock.

Either one would serve you very well, I would say get both but as to the one  you are getting this time get which ever is better priced.

SIG and GLOCK are both very good gun makers. I prefer  the grip angle of the GLOCK over the SIG pro. Accuracy shouldn't be the issue with either gun  bc it's the shooter who decides how accurate the pictol will be. I can shoot a walther p22 upside down and keep them in the ten ring. Some can't shoot it  right side up. It's about your ability to keep a correct sight picture.
The glock  will have a higher resale in the long run due to the limitations of the SIGpro. JMO

SF_Chris asked how the SigPro accuracy compared to the XD9.....

The XD9 shoots tighter groups.  My accuracy results over the past three years with the 5 guns referred to from best to least based on shot placement groups, consistancy, Winchester White Box ammo, at 25 yards were:

1  -  XD9

2  -  SigPro

3  -  USP9

4  -  G34

5  -  G19

I believe one of the variables involved in the ranking is the tigger of each.  Of the five, the XD9 has the smoothest and lightest trigger.  The Glock triggers were very rough IMO.  I probably should have had some trigger work done on them, but I decided to trade them in on a Wilson KZ-45 and haven't regretted the decision.  The Wilson out shoots all the above, but that's not exactly a fair comparison.  I still enjoy shooting the XD9, SP2340, and USP9!

There are very few people reading this that can know which of these handguns is the most accurate.

Most can only say which one they can shoot better.

They may be able to shoot brand A better but you may be able to shoot brand X better.

Most ALL good modern carry guns are far more accurate than their owners can shoot them and they are all more than accurate enough for their intended purpose.

All this better accuracy BS is just that BS written by people that know nothing the subject.

Reliability is more important.

You need to know which one is more reliable in all conditions and with all types of ammo.

You need to know which one will work better without lube and when they are dirty.

You also need to know which pistol has the best finish and is the most rust resistant.

I am trained to engage hostiles in close proximity to friendlys, so accuarcy is a pretty big deal to me.  I know that in the current town I live in and my inactive military status, me being in this situation would be more than improable, but I want to be able to handle anything.

But, I know what you mean- it does not matter how tight your groups were if your gun won't go bang.

I guess it does not matter that much with these guns, they will be more for fun than anything, and I would not take that kind of shot with either one of the 2.  Chris

Im always looking for tips. Would you be willing to write a post on say the top 3 errors shooters tend to make, or the top 3 tips one can work on to become a better shooter?
