Hi all, I recently picked up a Smitty 22A black finish for 200 at the local gun store. Its having somewhat of a difficult time chambering with a mag full of 5 or more, usualy leaving the spent case hanging out of the bolt. I shot 50 rounds through it and its getting better, somtimes not doing it at all but there's always that one or two times it jams. I'm wondering if this is a probelem that plauges this model from the get go or not. My friend has the same gun in stainless and hasnt had this probelem at all. I'm wanting to use the gun as a target pistol and gopher getter but need help adressing this probelem first. Any one got any ideas? Also, anyone have any luck with the simmons 42mm red dot? I'm thinking of putting one of those on and dont know a whole lot about them either. Thanks in advance for your time, I'll check back Matt |

What kind of ammo are you using? If it is Remington bulk pack or Winchester X-Pert there is your your problem. It may work with decent ammo. These are useally very reliable pistols untill something breaks. They are always breaking something if you shoot them a lot. |

well maybe the ammo is to blame then. I'm using american eagle 40gr solid point. I'll try somthing else. I just bought the simmons red dot and it wont mount on my pistol. The scope takes a full length weaver mount that wont go on my gun because there's not enough recess in the scope mount on the gun itself. that and the cut-away's for the ring screws are in the wrong place. Is there anyone who makes a weaver to weaver ring? any idea what kind of scope I could put on it in the 100 dollar range. I can always return the red dot. Thanks for the sugestions |
| Ditto the rem. golden bullets. I was having trouble with jamming too. With some breaking in it got better. But now that I'm shooting the golden bullets I have no problems. I think maybe the bolt and spring are too heavy so you need hotter loads. That was my experience. |
